Day 1: Pittormie to Inverness (Scenic Drive North)
Driving Distance: ~155 miles
Drive Time: ~3.5–4 hours (non-stop, but we’ll make plenty of stops along the way)
Highlights & Key Activities
Dunkeld: A charming riverside town, perfect for a short wander. Explore Dunkeld Cathedral, cross the Tay Bridge, and stretch your legs with a walk through The Hermitage to see Black Linn Falls.
Distillery Stop (optional): Dalwhinnie Distillery, Scotland’s highest, offers tastings paired with chocolate—a treat for whisky lovers.
Castle Option (instead of distillery): Blair Castle, a grand Perthshire estate rich with Jacobite history and beautiful grounds.
Scenic Cairngorms Drive: As we continue north, enjoy the dramatic landscapes of the Cairngorms National Park.
Evening: Arrive in Inverness and check into your accommodation. Relax with dinner in the Highland capital.
Day 2: Exploring Inverness & Highlands

Culloden Battlefield: Visit the poignant site of the final Jacobite Rising, with its immersive visitor centre and battlefield trails.
Clava Cairns: Ancient Bronze Age burial cairns and standing stones, steeped in history and mystery.
Loch Ness: A drive along the loch with stunning viewpoints.
Urquhart Castle: Iconic ruins perched on the edge of Loch Ness, offering spectacular views and history.
Optional Extras (time/interest depending):
Inverness city centre wander along the River Ness.
Beauly Priory, a peaceful monastic ruin.
Evening: Return to Inverness for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 3: Inverness to South (Return)
Option A – Direct Return
Retrace the outward route for a smoother journey south with time for relaxed stops. Possible pauses at House of Bruar, Dunkeld, or Pitlochry.
Option B – Scenic Return via Glencoe (longer day)
Drive west toward Fort William and Glencoe for some of Scotland’s most dramatic scenery.
Short walks or photo stops in the glen.
Continue south via Rannoch Moor and Stirling before arriving back in Edinburgh in the evening.
